LG LT500P 500-gallon capacity vertical water filter Review

We have public water that's mildly chlorinated. This filter removed all traces of chlorine taste and that somewhat "fishy" taste from summer algae blooms for over a year. In fact, it was the best tasting water I'd had in 30 years!

These filters are meant to last 6 months or so but for us delivered good water for over a year (could be we don't drink as much water as average families).

Easy to install. Not easy to find except on line. Expensive but worth it.

If you are replacing a Water by Culligan filter (FXRC, FXRT, MXRC or HXRT), WR97X10006, or Kenmore part number 46-9905 for the first time, you will need to purchase this adapter in addition to the GWF filter. The adapter attaches to the top of the GWF filter prior to installation. The next time you replace the filter, the adapter will stay connected to the refrigerator, so you won't need to buy another one. Has anyone tried to fit the MXRC filter into a GE Profile fridge? - Dee Bee - By the sea, Massachusetts
Does the MXRC filter even fit the GE Profile fridge? According to the details under the Amazon listing for the MXRC, it may not. They stress a few times that the GE Profile will need the crappy MWF filters with adapter. I use the MWF filters with an adapter and I'm sick of trickling water and, twice, leaking from the water system of my fridge (which I swear is related to this fiasco with incompatible water pressure). I want to try the MXRC but don't want to waste if it doesn't fit. Has anyone tried the MXRC on a GE Profile fridge?

I understand your complaint, and I'm sure it's valid (I still have an old metal Culligan filter in my fridge), but what did you do to resolve the problem? I see that Amazon lists an MXRC filter for 0 or so. Did you buy that one instead? Does it not have the problem?

Consumers BEWARE! The GE Smartwater GWF filter is not a replacement for the old 'Culligan' FXRC metal filter. Despite the available adapter, the new Smartwater GWF filter was designed for a newer 'high-pressure' system installed in GE refrigerators manufactured after 2001. On the older models using normal water pressure [mine is a GE Performance Profile] these filters do not work. They will seem fine at first, only to run to a trickle in less than a month. I burned through several of these at @ .00 each until I discovered the problem.

With millions of wasted filters and dollars at stake, GE refuses to acknowledge the problem. I was told to find a technician at my expense. GE refused to replace the filters with a properly designed compatible model.
